Sanibel Island Travel Resources

Sanibel Island, located in Florida’s Gulf Coast area is becoming an increasingly more and more popular tourist destination, and if you spend one day in this treasure of tranquility you’ll understand why.

Chances are that if you’re traveling to Sanibel Island, you’re planning on spending some time on the beach – after all, this little 33 square mile town is home to some of the best beaches in the world. The Sanibel sand is known for being incredibly soft, and as white as freshly fallen snow. The beach landscape is also very gradual, so there is a large shallow and safe section for kids to play in. One of the unique features of this beach is the frequency of which happy dolphins can be seen frolicking just off shore – the kids love it!

But the main attraction to the Sanibel Island beaches is definitely the seashells! Yep, Sanibel Island is home to some of the world’s best seashell gathering.

Sanibel Island has fantastic restaurants. Partly due to the beauty of the Island, and partly due to the proximity to fresh fish, Sanibel Island is a destination where world renown chefs often come to guest chef for a while.

If you’d like to get a little education out of your trip to Sanibel Island, the famous J.N. “Ding Darling” National Wildlife Refuge & Bird Sanctuary is a must-visit.  This place is awesome – just 5200 acres of one of the country’s largest mangrove ecosystems devoted to wildlife and nature. It’s truly a breathtaking experience that everyone should have.
