Wells Travel Resources

Wells is a beautiful oceanfront community located on Maine's Southern Coast. Wells bills itself as, 'The Friendliest Town in Maine,' and only a couple minutes spent in town is usually all you need to understand why.

There are two main beaches in Wells that many consider to be the best beaches in the entire state. Drakes Island Beach is classic family friendly beach;  it's about a half mile of white sand, there is parking for a fee available and there are restrooms available. Oftentimes you'll see people fishing from the jetty, and there are always at least a couple body boarders and sea kayakers to watch. The main Wells Beach is usually a bit more crowded, but the large sand dunes and flowing green sea grass result in quite a picturesque setting to catch a tan.  Crescent Beach is the other public beach in Wells, and provides lifeguards seven days a week in the summer months.

Wells offers tons of great restaurant options. From upscale seafood establishments to historic doughnut shops, there is something for everyone. If you're traveling with children, it might be a fun night to take them over the town border to Old Orchard Beach where there are arcades and amusement park rides.

Wells is one of those amazing communities that make you feel comfortable as soon as your feet hit the sand. It's a special place to travel to with children, or for a romantic weekend escape
