About the area

We are right next to the Moosalamoo National Recreation area! and just in the Green Mountain National Forest! Yet close to the Town of Middlebury. Where there is something for every season. Swim, ski, Kayaking, canoeing, fishing, site seeing, This is a great mid-Vermont location to see all the sites! With many pines and maples and more, gorgeous winding river to play in! My grandkids love it! Restaurants in Middlebury or go the other way towards Rt 100 and enjoy those areas! Hiking trails ALL over the place and Mountain biking trails too! For those cyclists out there this is a MAJOR road for that. Let us know your interest and we will point that way! Texas Waterfall is great and there is another you can hike to as well. Texas Falls is just off the road very easy. Robert Frost Hiking area great for kids.

“Winter Wonderland”

Reviewed 8 Mar 2015

This is an amazing house in a beautiful setting. We spent the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Large open ceiling and plenty of room for our entire family including the grandchildren. We spent each morning with our coffee in the hot tub and with drinks in the evening. My wife also got to enjoy a peaceful evening soaking in the extra-large bath tub. We did not have a lot of time, but got to do some winter hiking and there is a lot more to do in the area if you have the time. Lots and lots of trails and the National Forest right outside the door. Just a gorgeous setting in the mountains and when it was too cold the kids (and the grownups) spent time playing foosball, pool, and cards in the play room. Immaculately clean and the radiant heat kept the house a cozy warm even with cold temps outside. The house it's self is very intricate and has lots of detail making it really enjoyable to explore. I would recommend the River Stone Lodge to anyone.

“Beautiful memory”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2014

This Lodge was a beautiful home with careful details to the home itself, the amenities, the luxurious bedding and towels. It was perfect as a function for the purpose of sharing time and space with good friends. The warm and spacious country kitchen had all the amenities needed and made gathering there a natural draw. The rest of the house offered plenty of space if you wanted to go off and find a cozy space for a nap or book reading. There was an other lovely family gathering room, for visiting, games, television, and relaxing. Bedrooms are well appointed, cozy but roomy, and inviting. and well thought through for YOUR needs.. right down to the decorative catch bowl on the night stand for your Pocket to be emptied into ....keys, cell phones, mints..... easy to find the next day IF you choose to leave the home. The kitchen is stocked for cooking and serving, there are games and books and movies, toys / puzzles for the kids, hangers in the closets, extra blankets and towels available. The cat walk and other unique nooks and crannies of this home add to the uniqueness of this "One of a Kind" stay. The area offers much activities or relaxation right at your doorstep. It was lovely and I can't WAIT to return to explore more. Thank You Kris, for a beautiful place to stay, and memory to warm our hearts.

Owner's reply: Thank you for the lovely review. We really appreciate it! Hope you come again some day :)

“Winter Beauty”

Reviewed 19 Dec 2014

We enjoyed a very relaxing couple of days at River Stone. The mysterious charm and beauty of this home was fascinating. The furnishings were plush and comfortable. The woodwork and design of the lodge are truly spectacular and must be seen to fully appreciate. There was plenty of room for everyone. We were able to go hiking and snowshoeing right from the backdoor of the lodge. The scenery along that hike was beyond our expectations, especially along the river. The whole area was teaming with wildlife.

Owner's reply: Thank you for staying with us!
