It plays host to a number of unusual and striking buildings that have made it a source of inspiration to painters and artists for many years. The Jacobean Trevalyn Hall is made up of drunken timbers that give it a pleasingly unsteady appearance, whilst the local Church calls the inhabitants using tubular bells designed in the 19th Century. There is a golf course available for enthusiasts, while those interested in nature might like to try and spot the abundant wildlife that has made the River Alyn its home. The River Alyn is also a great local fishing spot and plays host to a number of other pursuits such as kayaking and the occasional prospector looking for elusive Welsh gold. The village has a number of good restaurants, pubs and shops and there are more to be found further afield in the historic city of Chester. Chester plays host to a variety of other attractions, such as Chester Zoo and the notable Gateway Theatre.
