“Beach weekend with friends”
I stayed at this house over the weekend with a group of friends and overall had a great experience. The house comfortably fit 6 with the use of the pull-out futon and was generally well equipped (although there was no toilet paper when we arrived and one of the bathtubs was a little dirty). Pegin was incredibly responsive by email and text and was generally very accommodating (ex.let us check out two hours later). Also loved the outdoor shower! Overall good experience and definitely worth the price.
Owner's reply: So sorry, I should have pointed out that the basket to the right of the toilet stocks the TP! So glad you enjoyed your stay!
“Surf camp home base”
We rented this cottage so that our 2 boys could take a weeklong surf camp in Narragansett. The cottage is beautifully decorated, has a wonderfully appointed cook's kitchen, and 2 separate rooms with TVs. My boys napped in the living room hammock every day after surf camp and really enjoyed the outdoor shower. The commute to Narraganestt each day was very easy and the cottage was a relaxing peaceful place to spend our time. I really felt that setting my eyes on the cheerful decor helped take my mind off of issues back home. While the kids were in camp, my husband and I spent one day exploring the South County bike path, and another day in Newport touring the Breakers. We made a few meals on the grill and would absolutely consider renting this place again. There is so much to do in the area, we could have stayed for 2 weeks. Next time we will find the time to Kayak!
Owner's reply: So glad you all enjoyed our little cottage so much! Kayaking in the ponds is so much fun and I am sure the boys would love exploring the marshes, clamming and pulling the kayaks up to the backside of the private beach and enjoying the waves on the other side! Come back soon! Pegin
We live out of state so it is very hard for us to enjoy our family. We have to run from home to home to home and hardly get to spend time with everyone. So we decided to rent a place and have all our family visit us. We were treated like family from Jon and Pegin as soon as we met, so that was a bonus. Their place had everything we needed to entertain and cook or what ever we needed. I plan on renting this wonderful cottage again this year!! Thank you :)
“Great place to stay”
My partner and I stayed at the cottage - to celebrate Rob's birthday - and we had a really wonderful time. The cottage was SO cute, comfortable and clean! And conveniently located. We will definitely be back!
Owner's reply: Jen, Thank you so much for your kind words! I am so glad you, Rob & Louie had a great time! I can't believe how well Louie cleaned the place after your stay! Come back any time! Besides I am dying to see who is more of a "collector" Rob or Jon ;-) Stay warm and come back soon! Pegin
“Want To Go Back”
Seeing it was only myself and my dog that stayed at the cottage, we had more than enough room! I found it much easier falling asleep in RI, than at home. It was a great atmosphere to reflect on my life. Being with my dog, Tux, I learned more about him, and felt a better bond. The cottage itself, was what I would call Rustic, but pleasantly so, and very 1960's decor! It was a pleasure meeting the owners, John and Peg. They were very attentive to your needs and left you alone. If you have a chance to rent the cottage, do so and try and meet the whole family, including Connor, Pegin's son. Connor is a good kid and very well-mannered, more that I can say, for most kids! You don't have to drive far to find a very nice and restful stay. Would I go back? In a flash!
Owner's reply: Tom, Thank you so much! And, rest assured, we would love to have you and Tux back at any time! Thank you for the wonderful veggies and squash blossoms. Next time we will have to get you out fishing and not just a harbor cruise! I am glad the atmosphere was "zen-like" and you were able to do the reflecting you were looking to do on your getaway! Most of all, thank you for the ultimate mommy compliment regarding my son! Big kiss to Tux!
“Cozy home, great owners”
My family has been vacationing in the Westerly and Charlestown areas for years and Pegin and Jon are the two nicest owners I have ever met. They were delightful people and tried as hard as they could to make every aspect of our stay terrific. The house is a great value.
Owner's reply: Thank you so much Bill! We so enjoyed meeting you, Gina and your kids! I hope Ian finally got to dig up some clams and tell Anna I expect she will be able to do 10 pull ups by herself by next summer :-)
“Our weekend getaway”
My husband and I decided for a last minute getaway with our two kids. Pegin was more than accommodating making us feel right at home. The house is one of a kind with a lot of character! Great privacy, yet centrally located.
Owner's reply: Thank you so much Jena! Please come back to visit soon - glad your daughter liked the hammock!
Jonny's TurnAround was the perfect retreat for our trip to RI. Pegin was amazing and so helpful and accommodating. Took advantage of the kayaks and clam rakes one day at the nearby beach and had a blast. Outdoor shower was incredible and could not bring myself to use the indoor one at all. Just what the doctor ordered for a wonderful and relaxing week, can't wait to go back!
Owner's reply: Deanna, You are too sweet! The 3 of you were the perfect renters and we so hope you can come back soon! Don't feel you have to wait for the next family gathering... we would love to see you sooner! Did you ever tell me when the wedding is?! Thanks so much for your wonderful comments!
“Home away from home”
We finally planned our first family vacation with our 2 12 year old daughter. After searching for hotels, we thought renting a home might be more accommodating to our needs. Best decision ever! Jonny's TurnAround was centrally located to Newport, Block Island, Providence, the beach/bay, and just about everything else! We even found a lobster stand up the road and made a tasty dinner one night! It was wonderful to be able to put our daughter to bed after a long day and enjoy a cocktail in the yard or 'Rico' room. Spacious, clean, and full of charm - this stay will be a special memory for our family!
Owner's reply: Thank you, Bonnie! I just wish I had been in town to meet you all in person... I would love to hear Macey's song about her vacation house sometime! So very glad you all enjoyed and hope you will be back!
“Green Hill Getaway!”
My partner and I stayed at Jonny's Turnaround in Green Hill for several days last July and we had a blast. We enjoyed very much the charming but very private little cottage including the comfortable sleeping amenitites, indoor and outside shower (the outside shower truly refreshing after a warm summer day at the beach!!), and full kitchen. The cottage was conveniently located just a mile or so from the local beaches and was just a short ride over to the Charlestown Mini Super where we purchased most of our groceries. We even lucked out even further as Jon and Pegin took us out fishing for fluke at a couple of Jon's hot spots and we caught more than enough nice size fluke for an amazing dinner that Pegin and Jon prepared for us!! Jon and Pegin were really patient with us newbies to the salt water fishing scene and by the end of the trip we felt like "pros" ! Let me tell ya, you have not lived until you have dined on Pegin's fresh fluke picatta that Pegin paired with pasta and homeade pesto made from basil grown out of her own garden!! Jon was also kind enough to let us use his outdoor grill for the next night's sea food supper! For value paired with comfort the combination is unbeatable, in fact we have already booked our vacation for this coming summer!
Owner's reply: You are so sweet... we had so much fun I felt like we were the ones on vacation! Thanks so much for the kind words and can't wait to see you in August! Its homemade pasta this year and a great new clam dish - so I guess we need to grab the rakes and hit the pond :-) Pegin & Jon
