About the area

This property is in North Truro, the most rural town on Cape Cod. It is on the bay side, not far from Truro Vinyards. There are several bay beaches nearby, the closest being a 20 minute walk (5 minute drive). The several pristine ocean beaches are a 10 minute drive, including the famous Long Nook beach with its spectacular bluffs. The many small country roads are ideal for bicycling and many hiking trails are nearby on the National Seashore. Highland Links is 3 miles away and Chequesset County Club is 14 miles. The home is an 8 minute drive from Wellfleet and Provincetown, each with its own ambiance but both providing a charming small town appeal with many restaurants, art galleries and live theater.

Getting around

There is nearby bus service to Provincetown and many people get around by bicycle but a car provides the most convenience and is recommended.

Interaction with guest

During the summer we are on the property living in the apartment above the garage. In this way, any issues that arise can be immediately addressed. We are willing to engage with guests if they wish, but are prepared to withdraw and give guests maximum privacy if that's what they want.

“Second visit, second strong endorsement.”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2017

Just tidying my computer and came across this trip advisor bookmark. I've already left a positive review from our stay in 2014. We visited again last July with additional family/friends and had another wonderful vacation. We chose the same house because of it's perfect location and accommodating hosts. The guest house was a perfect in-law suite. It's a quiet oasis only minutes away from the attractions in P-town. You will not regret your choice.

“Best rental ever”

I have vacationed and rented property on the Cape for many, many years, in Welllfeet, Truro and North Truro. The Clarke house on Priest Road in North Truro is the most pleasant house I have ever rented. The house is spacious, comfortable, well-equipped and tastefully furnished. The quiet acre on Cape Cod is really that, with nice grounds, flowers, little pond and in August when we were there, fresh tomatoes! We slept with sea-air breezes wafting through the bedroom. In fact, there were days when I gave up my favorite beach for the house because the house is so pleasant. My favorite bay beach, Corn Hill, is a 5-minute drive away. Raymond and wife Bridget (Brigid?) were helpful, but discreet, and as pleasant as is their house, really good and interesting people. I only hope we can return in 2017.

The house and land are very nice, a few things could be improved like kitchen and bathroom but overall nice house and very quiet surroundings. The owners are more than charming and helpful. Will be back if we can.

Owner's reply: Thank you Louise. The simple issue in the bathroom has been resolved with your help. I don't know what the kitchen issue is, but will quickly take care of it with more specific feedback.

“Look no further!”

This home offers all the beauty that Cape Cod has to offer within minutes of any activity you may want - beaches, Provincetown, whale watching, biking, hiking, etc. We just returned from a week with our 2 teenage sons and I'm writing this review before unpacking. We highly recommend 5 Priest in North Truro if you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing getaway with hosts who are accommodating and warm. We felt right at home almost immediately. The house is spacious, clean and comfortable. The fish pond is a major plus. The surrounding area is gorgeous. There are several beaches within a few minutes drive and one which is a 10 minute walk. Look no further.

I must say the owners are a PLUS to this renting. They are zen, warm, welcoming, calm, respctfull and able to give us so directions around. Great people, great place. I recommand it.

“Lovely spot”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2013

My teenage kids and I and family dog spent a lovely week here. We did not want to leave! The house is very comfortable and easy to be in and our dog loved the back yard. Breakfasts from the Village Cafe in North Truro eaten on the back deck made for a very relaxed start to the day and evening meals often ended up with staying up to watch the fantastic meteor showers, if you we're lucky enough to catch them! We explored the nearby Truro beaches, visited P'Town and Wellfleet, went mini golfing, took the dog for walks on the beach..And we would be remiss if we did not mention the wonderful outdoor shower! This house is a great place for a quiet and relaxed break. Brigid and Ray are welcoming and unobtrusive hosts. We will be back..

Owner's reply: We are pleased to hear of the many different ways visitors enjoy the area but the beaches are always in the mix. As Alison's experience shows, Truro is the most rural town on the Cape but the art/restaurant/theater scenes of Wellfleet and Provincetown are nearby. Thanks for the review Alison.

“Just Lovely”

This was a beautiful place - the photos do NOT do it justice! We loved the open great room/dining area and the outdoor space that had a deck for bbq'ing. The kitchen was well supplied and as foodies that was a big plus. Thanks Ray and Bridget for being such wonderful hosts. :)

Owner's reply: When I first saw Alice and Greg, they were already cooking on the grill (Vijay and Anne were shopping for more food) and I knew they were the kind of guests that would make the most of the place. I always like to see our guests make themselves at home right away. Thanks for the kind review Alice!

“Perfect private spot for families”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2012

we were very happy with the house... The great room is so spacious and perfect for our family. Made great use of the deck/BBQ and our 7 year old was thrilled with the wild blueberry patch, while our 13 year old loved the TV/bookshelf. The beds are very comfortable. The hosts are extremely helpful and accomodating. We also rented the little guest house and everything was clean and comfortable.
